THE 1ST GREEN PARK IN SEMINYAK

Sunday the 29th of January 2006 was a day of celebration for many. Not only did most of the world celebrate the welcome of the Chinese Lunar New Year of the Dog, but at 3.30 pm (Bali time), Bali Deli proudly announced the grand opening of their Community Park. The weather celebrated in its own way by shining on the gathered crowds after days of rain of the predictable rainy season. This was, by Chinese tradition, a sure sign of fortuitous luck and heavenly blessings. More practically, it allowed the perfect setting for the park opening ceremonies and a gentle first stroll by the public. “This is the first green park that Seminyak has which is based on an educational theme for children as well as being the only place where you can play petanque in Seminyak”, stated Mr. Alexander Jovanovic, the President Director of Bali Deli, in his opening ceremony speech. Petanque is the official name of French bowls, and is a seriously fun pastime for many expatriates.

The opening of this Community Park itself was officially marked by the cutting of a ribbon at the entrance to the park, and was followed by releasing colorful balloons into Bali’s fresh, blue sky. Bali Deli Community Park is designed to be a fun but environmentally aware playground, especially focusing on children. To create this awareness, the staff have thoughtfully planted many fruit and vegetables trees around the park to allow the children to witness mother nature in all her glory. There is a total of 41 fruit & vegetable trees as well as spices such as various varieties of spinach, chili peppers, sweet corn, ginger, lime, potatoes, butter-beans, turmeric, aloe vera, apples, mangoes, cucumber, pineapple to name but a few. The education of each variety is further continued by being signposted in three languages; Bahasa Indonesia, English and Latin. Of course, all these wonderfully fresh produce may also be purchased off the shelves of Bali Deli to be enjoyed by the whole family at home. Le Spot, Bali Deli ‘s garden restaurant, has also greatly benefited from The Park, which is found adjacent, further adding to the garden ambience. Evening time brings candles a twinkling, and romantic lighting.

The Park was funded by Bali Deli as well as some big name sponsors from around Bali, and its petanque field will play host to Bali’s first French community team. Children can while away the time on various island playground activities, that are appreciated the world over; swings, climbing frame, roundabout and seesaw. This is a reflection of what the Park is all about; community support and reciprocation. The opening of this Community Park clearly shows that Bali Deli is a business that is dedicated to the relationships with the communities that have been unwaveringly supportive during the last 3 years. The same philosophy will be applied for all Bali Deli branches that will soon open in Indonesia.
